The Utica Post Senior team opened league play on Wednesday with a 11-4 victory over New Hartford Post. Brent Jones earned the victory on the mound.  Chez Castronovo, Myles Felton and Nick LaBella each had 3 hits.  See box score for more.

The Utica Post Junior team opened league play on Thursday with a 14-0, 5 inning victory over Oriskany Post. Nick Batinelli threw a five inning shutout while Utica’s offense posted 14 hits and 13RBIs.  See box score for more.

On Thursday the Utica Senior team faced off against cross town rival Adrean Post at Murnane Field and came out with a 6-2 victory.  Chez Castronovo earned the victory on the mound.  Ben Kilian paced Utica with 3 hits. See box score for more.

Ryan Donovan threw a complete game victory, scattering 4 hits while striking out 9.  Utica Post was led offensively by Mike Scotellaro who went 4 for 4 with a 3 run home run.  Justin Hall and Matt Scotellaro also added 3 hits each. Vin Gaetano added a solo home run and Ryan Donovan had a 2 run home run.

Mike Cobb and Mike Conley each had 2 hits for Love Post.

On the night before graduation two Proctor High School senior pitchers faced each other on the mound where Ryan Donovan outgunned Steve Sarcone for the victory.  Both pitchers went the distance, Donovan allowing 3 hits with 10 strike outs and 3 walks,  Sarcone allowing 6 hits with 8 strike outs and 2 walks. 

Utica scored all their runs in the 5th inning.  It started with a lead off single by Justin Hall, and ended with a 2 RBI single by Mike King and an RBI single by Mike Scotellaro.

There were no extra base hits in the game for either team.  Gary McConnell for Utica was the only player to have multiple hits for either team.

Tom DeBernardis threw a complete game to earn the victory for Utica, scattering 6 hits while striking out 2 and walking 5.  Offensively for Utica, Mike Scotellaro and Matt Scotellaro each had RBI singles and Vin Gaetano had a 2-run home run in the 5th.  For Whitestown, Mike Bunal and Dan Smith each had 2 hits.  Smith had the lone RBI on his triple in the 4th inning.  MJ Hajec went the distance for Whitestown, striking out 8.

Tom DeBernardis threw a 5 inning complete game, allowing 4 hits while striking out 3 and walking only 1.  Tom also contributed at the plate with 2 hits and 2 RBI.  Mike King added 2 hits and 3 RBI for Utica.

Mike Cobb had an RBI single for Love Post.

Vin Gaetano hit  a walk off 3 run home run in the bottom of the 9th to give UP229 the victory over New Hartford Post 3-0.  Ryan Donovan started the game for Utica and threw 7 scoreless innings, scattering 3 hits while striking out 5.  Mike King earned the victory in relief, throwing 2 scoreless innings while striking out 3. King also added 2 hits. On the mound for New Hartford, Pat Derrane went the distance, scattering 6 hits while striking out 9. Nick Decresci had 2 hits for New Hartford.

UP229 received an outstanding effort on the mound from Ryan Alesandro with a complete game effort (game shortened to 5 innings), allowing only 2 hits while striking out 4 and retiring the last 10 batters he faced.  Offensively, Utica got multiple hits from Mike Scotellaro, Vin Gaetano and Justin Hall.  Hall led UP229 with 3 RBI.  Gaetano had 2 RBI including a solo home run.

CWS Post scored their run in the first with an RBI double from Steve Szatko.

Utica Post was swept in a double header at Murnane Field by Rayson Miller Post of Rochester. 

Game 1:  RM 9 – UP 8

Rayson Miller scored 2 runs in the 6th and 6 runs in the 7th to pull out a come from behind victory.  Mike Scotellaro had two hits including a 3RBI triple, while Vin Gaetano added 3 hits which included a pair of doubles and a 2 run home run. 

Game 2:  RM 13- 2

Utica Post fell behind early and could not recover.  Mike Lackey took the loss on the mound.  UP229 had only 3 hits, one of those being a 2 RBI single by Ryan Donovan.

UP229 fell to Ilion 5-4 tonight at Murnane Field. Tom DeBernardis was the tough luck loser on the mound as he threw a complete game, scattering 8 hits and allowing 3 earned runs. Utica Post also had 8 hits total, with no player getting multiple hits. Mike Scotellaro hit a solo home run in the 4th inning.

UP229 defeated Sherrill Post tonight by a score of 10-1.  Ryan Donovan threw a complete game allowing 5 hits and striking out 4 to earn the win.  Ryan also led UP229 at the plate with 3 hits and an RBI .  Vin Gaetano added 2 hits and an RBI.
