Whitestown Post took a double header at Murnane Field on Thursday night, with shutouts in both games.

The first game saw Whitestown JR team pitcher Ryan LaManque throw 6 shut out innings in a rain shortened game.  Utica Post JR team pitcher gave up 2 runs in the first inning.

The nightcap saw Whitestown SR team pitcher Kevin Flynn scatter 2 hits over 7 innings.  Mike Alesandro was the tough luck loser for Utica Post, scattering 5 hits over 7 innings.  See Boxscore for more details.

Utica Post bounced back with a non league victory over Amsterdam behind the solid performance of Dan Solari.  See details here Boxscore.

Ilion Boxscore

Jack Santacroce threw a complete game shutout for Utica Post, scattering 3 hits while striking out 5 and walking only one batter.  See detailed Boxscore for more info.

Parker Goldsmith scattered 4 hits for the complete game victory on the mound while striking out 9. Vincenzo Castronovo and Ben Kilian each had 2 hits and an RB to pace Utica Post offensively.  Complete Boxcsore is available here.

The season start is a bit delayed due to the first opponent’s high school team still playing in sectionals.  There have been a flurry of schedule changes today, all summarized here:

SENIOR TEAM

  • Tuesday June 2 – game time changed to 430PM
  • Wednesday June 3 – game cancelled due to opponent’s high school team still playing in sectionals
  • Wednesday June 10 – game changed to same time and place on Tuesday June 9

JUNIOR TEAM

  • Sunday May 31- game cancelled due to opponent’s high school team still playing in sectionals
  • Saturday June 6 – game time changed to 10AM
  • Tuesday June 16 – game changed to Saturday June 20 at 430PM at Murnane Field

It is almost that time of year.  Utica Post 229 American Legion will again field two teams, a Senior Legion and a Junior Legion Team.  The Junior team season kicks off with a non-league doubleheader against Clonan Wicks Staley Junior Team at Sauquoit High School on May 31 and the Senior team season begins with a non-league home game at Murnane Field against Whitestown Post 1113 on June 2.
