The Utica Post 229 Baseball team will hold an all you can eat pasta dinner fundraiser on Thursday February 11th from 430 to 730 PM at Utica Post 229 American Legion located at 409  Herkimer Road.

The cost for each meal is $7 (child (under 10) portions available for $4).

Meals consist of salad, bread, meatballs, all you can eat pasta, dessert, non-alcoholic beverage.

Tickets can be purchased at the door.  For to go orders call 793-9377.

Utica Post 229 captured the District 5 Championship by going undefeated in the District playoffs but didn’t fare as well in the New York State Championship Tournament where they went 0-3.   Game 1 saw Rockland County throw a shutout, winning 8-0.  In game 2 Utica’s late inning rally wasn’t enough, losing to Maine Endwell 9-7.  Game 3 Utica jumped out to a 4 run lead in the first inning but fell to the eventual runner up Saratoga Stampede 8-4.

Utica Post finished the season with an overall record of 22-8.  This was the first District Title for Utica Post since 2010, and the first under head coach Vic Castronovo.

UP229 Champs

Utica Post 229 won the District 5 Championship with a 12-2 victory over Ilion Post 920.  Utica Post’s Parker Goldsmith went the distance on the mound to earn his second victory in the playoffs.

Utica Post found itself with a 3-3 record a third of the way into the season, then went on a 12 game winning streak to clinch the Navy Division Title before dropping their last regular season game.  Then, during the District playoffs Utica won four straight to clinch the title.

Both Utica Post and Ilion Post will participate in the New York State Championship Tournament at Murnane Field beginning on Tuesday July 28th.

Utica Post defeated Smith Post in the second round of the District 5 Baseball Championship Tournament by a score of 6-5.  Mike Alesandro earned the win on the mound with a complete game effort.  Smith Post scored 3 runs in the top of the 9th inning to tie the game.  Utica came right back and scored in the bottom of the inning on a throwing error. Utica will play Ilion Post on Tuesday at 8PM at Murnane Field.  The winner will advance to the District Championship game and will qualify for the New York State Championship Tournament.

Utica Post defeated Moran Sylvan Beach Post by a score 7-5.  See boxscore for details.

Utica Post will take on Smith Post, Monday at 430 at Murnane Field.

Utica Post 12 game winning streak ended with a 6-5 loss at Oneida (boxscore).  The defeat didn’t impact Utica Post postseason positioning in the 8 team double elimination tournament.  Utica Post will play Moran Sylvan Beach on Sunday June 19 at 11AM at Murnane Field.

Utica Post continued its winning streak with a defeat of Helmuth Ingalls by a score of 13-1.  See boxscore for details.

Utica Post defeated New Hartford Post at Murnane Field by a score of 4-2.  The victory extends the winning streak to 11 games and also clinched the Navy Division Title and the #2 seed in the playoffs which begin Sunday.  Details of the game can be found here boxscore.

On Boilermaker Sunday Utica Post won 2 games in a split double header.

In game one, Mike Alesandro earned the win on the mound, defeating Morris Edwards 5-0 boxscore.

In game two, Mike Alesandro earned the win in relief, defeating Adrean 9-6 boxscore.

On Monday night, Utica Post defeated Smith Post by a score of 3-1 to extend the winning streak to 9 boxscore.
